MenuVision ("MenuVision," "we," "us," or "our") helps users understand restaurant menus, dishes, wine lists, and related food information through scanning, translation, visual guides, saved food photos, and related features.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect information when you use MenuVision.
1. Information We Collect
We may collect the following categories of information.
Account Information
MenuVision may use Firebase Authentication to create an anonymous or email-based account. We may collect Firebase user ID, email address if you choose to link or create an account, account creation and login information, language preference, and subscription or scan wallet status.
Menu, Dish, and Wine Information
When you scan or search menus, dishes, or wine lists, we may process menu photos or text submitted by you, dish names, wine names, related menu text, AI-generated explanations, translations, tasting notes, and visual guide metadata, and restaurant context when available.
Photos You Upload
If you add a dish photo, we may collect the image you upload, dish name and restaurant context associated with the photo, optional note or metadata you provide, and visibility selection such as private or contribution to MenuVision.
If you choose to contribute a photo to MenuVision, the photo may be reviewed and, if approved, made available as a representative dish photo to other MenuVision users.
Location and Restaurant Context
MenuVision may use location or restaurant search features to help identify nearby restaurants or associate a menu with a place. This may include approximate location if you grant permission, restaurant search query, and Google Places result information such as restaurant name, place ID, and location.
We do not require location access for all features.
Purchase and Subscription Information
MenuVision may offer subscriptions, scan packs, and other in-app purchases. Purchases are handled by Apple and RevenueCat. We may receive limited purchase-related information such as subscription entitlement status, product identifier, purchase or renewal status, scan credit balance, and restore purchase status.
We do not receive your full payment card number.
Advertising and Rewarded Ads
MenuVision may use AdMob or similar advertising services to show rewarded ads. These services may process advertising identifiers depending on your device settings and consent, ad interaction information, and rewarded ad completion status.
Rewarded ads may grant additional scan credits when successfully completed.
Device, Usage, and Diagnostic Information
We may collect technical information to operate and improve the app, including device type and operating system, app version, feature usage, error logs and diagnostics, performance information, and crash reports.
2. How We Use Information
We use information to provide menu scanning, dish explanation, wine list, translation, and visual guide features; save your account state, language preference, scan balance, and recent activity; process subscriptions, scan packs, and rewarded ad scan credits; store private dish photos you choose to save; review and publish contributed dish photos when approved; improve MenuVision's dish recognition, photo memory, and user experience; prevent abuse, fraud, spam, and misuse; troubleshoot errors and maintain app security; and comply with legal, tax, platform, and App Store requirements.
3. AI Processing
MenuVision uses AI services to help analyze menu photos, menu text, wine names, dish names, translations, and visual guide prompts.
AI-generated information may be inaccurate, incomplete, or different from the actual dish served by a restaurant. MenuVision is designed to provide helpful representative guidance, not guaranteed restaurant-specific facts.
When you submit menu photos, text, wine lists, or dish-related information, that content may be sent to AI service providers for processing.
4. User Photos and Contributions
You may choose to keep uploaded dish photos private or contribute them to MenuVision.
Private photos are intended to be visible only to your account, subject to our technical and security controls.
If you choose to contribute a photo, the photo may be reviewed automatically or manually. Approved photos may be added to MenuVision's shared dish photo catalog. Other users may see the photo as a representative example of a dish. We may remove contributed photos at any time if they violate our policies or are inaccurate, inappropriate, or low quality.
Do not upload photos that include people's faces, private information, copyrighted images you do not own, non-food content, or content that violates our Photo Contribution Policy.
5. How We Share Information
We may share information with service providers that help operate MenuVision, including Firebase and Google Cloud for authentication, database, storage, cloud functions, analytics, and infrastructure; Google Places for restaurant search and place context; AI service providers for menu, wine, translation, and visual guide processing; RevenueCat for purchase and subscription management; Apple for in-app purchases and App Store services; AdMob or advertising partners for rewarded ads; and crash, logging, or diagnostic providers when used.
We do not sell your personal information to advertisers.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights, to enforce our policies, or to prevent fraud, abuse, or security incidents.
6. Data Storage and Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect user data. However, no system is completely secure. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for using caution when uploading content.
Uploaded photos and account data may be stored using Firebase, Google Cloud, or related infrastructure.
7. Data Retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide MenuVision, maintain your account, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and improve the service.
You may request deletion of your account or certain data by contacting us at giiim.company@gmail.com.
Some information may be retained for legal, security, fraud prevention, backup, or accounting purposes.
8. Your Choices
Depending on your device and region, you may be able to disable location permission, limit ad tracking or advertising identifiers, restore or cancel subscriptions through Apple, delete or request deletion of your account, keep photos private instead of contributing them, and request removal of contributed content associated with you.
9. Children
MenuVision is not intended for children under 13 or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. International Use
MenuVision may be used in different countries. Your information may be processed in countries other than where you live. By using MenuVision, you understand that your information may be transferred and processed internationally.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we may notify you through the app or by other reasonable means. The updated policy will be effective when posted unless stated otherwise.
